By the age of 13 he had built his first sublight engine from scrap parts. It was an impulse ramjet hybrid that won him first prize in a regional science fair. He has always been looking for ways to enhance or modify the freighter home he grew up in.

He was 17 when he was accepted to the Engineering program at Starfleet Academy. Personal History Jason was born on the freighter Taols. His parents, Aaron and Julia, had him attend a subspace school. He grew up in relative isolation because of the long distance runs his ship would make. With no siblings, the crew of the Taols took him on as a younger brother.

He quickly excelled at engineering and math skills. he was given many opportunities to watch and learn as the crew made do with what they had. Adaptation and ingenuity were required to make ends meet and survive to the next port of call.

He began building his own tools and devices by the age of 6. With little to do on the freighter, he began running the corridors to think. in time this became a nuisance to the crew so he found a space in a storage compartment and built a low G running ring. this allowed him to run for hours without being in the way. It kept him fit and mostly wiry until later in life.

At age 13 he built a hybrid ramjet / impulse engine that won first prize in a regional science fair. This was a big boost to Jason and taught him that he was an engineer. It gave him the confidence to continue to build and further his knowledge of science and math.

When he was admitted to the Engineering school at Starfleet Academy at Age 17 his parents were very happy. He graduated 4 years later in the top 10% of gis class. During his time at the academy he joined the long distance running team and was often taking medals home. He had many friends and enjoyed his time at the academy.

When he graduated he was assigned to starbasew 515 to be on the engineering crew. He would spend his days retrofitting starships and shuttlecraft. At night he would run around the starbase, giving him the nickname “Circles”. After 2 years at the starbase he was reassigned to assist a anthropology survey team in an outlying star system of the federation.

Working with the anthropologists posed many problems because everything used had to look like it came from the culture being studied. Jasons background as a builder helped them out, and the team was able to have what they needed without impacting the culture on the planet. He was also on the ships engineering crew and learned a great deal about working on starships vs. in a classroom.

At the age of 26 he was promoted to Lieutenant and was took 2 months of leave to visit with his parents. With his promotion he was given the opportunity to take some time to find a place he wanted to continue his career.
